    1. Approachable: From our CEO answering questions from anonymous employee surveys at the monthly company-wide all-hands meeting to our engineers creating a custom Slack emoji for the CTO, everyone is accessible and accountable.

    2. Collaborative: The best work occurs outside of silos. We fight department isolation through clear goals, meeting requirements (agendas), and clear feedback loops for teams. As a result, all teams (compliance, engineering, design, marketing, support, etc.) consistently collaborate and support each other. 

    3. Creative: Creativity is difficult to define but easy to recognize. Team members look for creative ways to simplify the complex (like product-agnostic screenshots for white-labeled products), and even though we love data, we're more likely to use a meme than a bar graph to illustrate a point. 

  • We win if everyone's in the boat, so First Dollar's leadership has prioritized building company frameworks like a company-wide definition of titles, a 15-5 methodology employed by department leads, and career ladders. Leadership reviews the bi-annual employee engagement score to identify areas of needed improvement, resulting in employee recognition programs and benefit program adjustments. The Senior Leadership Team also meets weekly to solve challenges, ensure company-wide alignment, and keep a consistent temperature check on employee engagement. 

  • Each month, a First Dollar employee is recognized for exemplifying company core values (Authenticity, Inclusivity, Ownership Mentality, Relentlessness, and Simplicity). The award winner receives a mandatory "closed laptop" day and a gift card in recognition. We also have a #shoutouts Slack channel, where teammates give shoutouts to their teammates and are encouraged to reference company values when giving recognition.
