Collaborative: We believe that by working together towards a common goal—making Weaviate successful—we increase our potential for growth and innovation. In this collaborative spirit there's low ego because the outcome is what matters.
Kind: We believe kindness is magic, and we put it at the heart of our interactions, within our team, our customers and with our community. We know kindness will help us foster long-term relationships and success, and therefore we focus on respect, empathy and understanding.
Transparent: Transparency is in our company DNA. We have an open-source product (https://github.com/weaviate/weaviate), so by default we are open and transparent about our product, our org chart (https://theorg.com/org/weaviate), our education (https://weaviate.io/developers/academy), and our documentation (https://weaviate.io/developers/weaviate).

Company culture is important to both of our co-founders. They lead by example, showing our company values in their everyday actions: (1) When there has been collective effort (different teams working together) this will be publicly praised by our leadership. (2) When an employee is displaying toxic behavior our leadership acts upon it because they are convinced standing up for our people and our values is the right thing to do both in the short and in the long term. (3) Our leaders aren’t above rolling up their sleeves and working hands on with our team and customers. At a big conference, everyone was super busy at the booth so our CEO went and got everyone coffee. Additionally, during our annual company trip our CEO and CTO always host a ‘co-founder’ where they cook for the entire company.

At our monthly All Hands meetings, we have a special ritual called 'Weaviate Hero,' where we publicly acknowledge our colleagues for their contributions. This spotlight ensures that everyone receives recognition for their hard work, leaving no one behind. Additionally, our team celebrates achievements through Slack, where individuals praise and recognize their peers. By celebrating success together, we foster a culture of appreciation. Also, when people work together towards getting a customer functionality done, we send a little token of appreciation. For example, 3 engineering teams worked together to implement a very important functionality (to close a deal with a big customer). Once this was implemented, we sent them an Amazon gift card with an appreciation message.
